A Study on the Drug Therapy of the Acute Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Abstract
The increasing incidences of Carbon Monoxide poisoning since the widespread uses of the coal briquette have been one of the serious problems in this country.
This study was to observe the Surviving Time of Rats poisoned with 1% CO after they have been treated by the injection of Cytochrome C, Sodium Succinate & Mixed Solution(Cytochrome C£« sodium Succinate), respectively.
The results obtained were as follows;
1) The average Surviving Time of Rats poisoned with 1% Co.
Treatment Surviving Time(Minutes)
Control group 72.6 ¡¾ 3.45
Cytochrome C 10mg/kg group 101.0 ¡¾ 5.51
Cytochrome C 20mg/kg group 105.0 ¡¾ 7.7
Sodium Succinate 10mg/kg group 142.6 ¡¾ 6.55
Sodium Succinate 20mg/kg group 141.6 ¡¾ 9.2
Mixed Solution 10mg/kg group 106.8 ¡¾ 7.75
Mixed Solution 20mg/kg group 126.4 ¡¾ 13.9
significant differences of Surviving Time was moted between the Control group and each of the Experimental groups.
2) The effects of drug came Sodium Succinate, Mixed Solution, Cytochrome C group in that order.
3) Significant differences in Surviving Time could be observed between
a) Cytochrome C 10mg/kg group and Sodium Succinate 10mg/kg group.
b) Sodium Succinate 10mg/kg group and Mixed Solution 10mg/kg group.
c) Cytochrome C 20mg/kg group and Sodium Succinate 20mg/kg group.
No significant differences could be observed in Surviving Time between.
a) Cytochrome C 10mg/kg group and Mixed Solution 10mg/kg group.
b) Sodium Succinate 20mg/kg group and Mixed Solution 20mg/kg group.
c) Cytochrome C 20mg/kg group and Mixed Solution 20mg/kg group.
4) The combined treatment of Sodium Succinate and Cytochrome C has shown a reduced effect as compared with the result of separate treatments.
